President Yan Xuedong Visits School of Physical Science and Technology for Research and Guidance

On the morning of January 3, 2024, President Yan Xuedong and his delegation visited the School of Physical Science and Technology for research and discussion. Members of the school's party and government leadership team, academic leaders, department heads, and young faculty representatives attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of the School's Party Committee, Li Zhuohui.

Vice Dean Jia Huanyu first reported on the development of the school, providing detailed information on the school's discipline construction, faculty team, talent cultivation, education and teaching, platform construction, scientific research, and cooperation and exchange. He outlined the school's goals and development measures for the next phase. He stated that the school is currently at a crucial stage of development and construction, emphasizing the implementation of the fundamental task of "cultivating people with moral integrity," carrying the historical mission of "strengthening the foundation of science," addressing weaknesses, highlighting characteristics, deviating from conventional development, striving to create a first-class physics discipline, and building a strong foundation in science for the university to support the construction of a "Double First-Class" institution.

During the discussion, participants actively spoke on topics such as discipline construction, teaching and research, talent cultivation, and the construction of major science and technology infrastructure.

In his concluding remarks at the end of the meeting, President Yan Xuedong fully acknowledged the achievements of the school's development. He expressed his excitement after hearing the school's work report, praising the practical work style, solid achievements, clear development ideas, forward-looking vision, and bright prospects of the school. President Yan expressed earnest expectations for the school's future development, urging continued efforts in talent cultivation, maintaining high-level cooperation, strengthening internal collaboration and integration of science and education, and continuing to excel in basic public teaching. He assured continued support from the university for the school's development.
