The opening ceremony of the Qian Sanqiang Elite Class and the award ceremony for outstanding talents were held at the Xipu Campus on April 25, 2024. The ceremony was attended by Professor Jia Huanyu, the Dean of the school, professor Liu Yu from the Experimental Astrophysics Team, Dr. Chen Long as the contact person, associate professor Tang Yongliang, Ms Ke Xiaohan, professor Chen Mingjun, associate professor Liu Yudong, and associate professor Li Yaqiong from the High Energy Physics Research Institute, along with students of the "Qian Sanqiang Elite Class" and representatives of the first-year students from the Applied Physics Department. The ceremony was hosted by associate professor Tang Yongliang.
At the beginning of the event, Dean Jia Huanyu extended a warm welcome to Teacher Ke Xiaohan and his team from the High Energy Physics Research Institute, thanking the Institute for their strong support in talent cultivation at the School of Physical Science and Technology. He expressed the hope for further cooperation and mutual progress between the two sides. He also congratulated the students who received the Elite Talent Scholarship.
Subsequently, associate professor Liu Yudong, professor Chen Mingjun, and associate professor Li Yaqiong delivered academic reports. Liu Yudong pointed out that the BEPC decisively supports China's international status in high-energy physics, and the field of high-energy physics experiments in China has made remarkable progress from scratch, starting from there. Chen Mingjun introduced how LHAASO has become an indispensable member of the core high-energy cosmic ray and gamma-ray detection devices today. Li Yaqiong presented the topic "Exploring the Universe Model Using Low-Temperature Superconducting Detectors."
It is reported that the "Qian Sanqiang Elite Class" jointly established by the School of Physical Science and Technology and the High Energy Physics Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has been in operation for over ten years. Both parties have played a synergistic role in innovation and talent cultivation, realizing the sharing of advantageous resources and promoting the development and integration of disciplines. This collaboration has contributed to the cultivation of outstanding reserve talents for large scientific projects in China and related research fields and units.
