Comprehensive Assessment Method
(1) Candidate Selection
Candidates who have passed the qualification review of the school and whose materials have been evaluated as qualified, and whose English meets the exemption conditions or whose foreign language test scores are not less than 60 points.
Master's students who meet the requirements for applying for a doctoral degree and have completed online registration and confirmation as required by the school.
Please refer to the attachment for the list of candidates.
(2) Assessment Form and Time
The assessment form is an offline interview.
The assessment time will start at 2:00 pm on May 20, 2023, and the specific arrangements will be notified separately.
(3) Qualification Review
Qualification review for "application for assessment"
Candidates need to provide the following materials:
"Online Application Information Form for Doctoral Degree Graduate Students" (original copy printed after successful online registration and signed and stamped as required in the corresponding place);
Two letters of recommendation from experts;
For graduates, provide a scanned copy of the student ID card and the "Verification Report of Education Ministry's Online Enrollment" application from the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center; for past graduates, provide a scanned copy of the degree and diploma certificate, the "Electronic Registration Form for Education Ministry's Degree Certificate" or "China Higher Education Academic Degree Certification Report" obtained from the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center, and the scanned copy of the degree certification report obtained from the degree application website (the front of the scanned copy should indicate the name and date of the candidate);
One copy of the bachelor's degree certificate and undergraduate graduation certificate;
One copy of the ID card with valid personal information (the front should indicate the name and copy date);
The course transcript during the master's degree period (must be stamped with the official seal of the graduate education department. If it is a copy from the personnel file, it must indicate "This is a copy of the original, and the content is consistent with the original" and be stamped by the issuing department);
Candidates who are exempt from the foreign language proficiency test should provide a copy of the foreign language proficiency certificate; candidates who take the English proficiency test should submit the query results of the English proficiency test;
A physical examination form (provided by a second-class or above hospital and stamped with the conclusion seal of the medical examination);
Materials that can prove the candidate's research level and ability, including copies of published papers, patents, formal acceptance letters of papers, award certificates, etc. (the cover should indicate the name and the applied major);
One recent passport photo;
A research plan for the proposed doctoral degree program of no more than 5000 words;
The original copy of the political review form (download attachment 2, stamped with the personnel file department seal to which the candidate belongs);
"Commitment Letter for Master's Students Studying for a Doctoral Degree at Southwest Jiaotong University" (only for current master's students);
Printout of the examination fee voucher.
Qualification review for master's and doctoral degree program

"Application Form for Southwest Jiaotong University Master's and Doctoral Program";
Two letters of recommendation from experts;
A copy of the thesis published by the master's student during the study period (signed by the student and dated);
A copy of the award certificate obtained by the master's student during the study period (signed by the student and dated);
A brief description of the master's student's participation in scientific research during the study period (reviewed and signed by the supervisor);
A scanned copy of the student ID card and the "Verification Report of Education Ministry's Online Enrollment" application from the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center;
A copy of the ID card (military personnel must provide a copy of the military officer's certificate and resident ID card) (signed by the student and dated);

Qualification review for direct doctoral degree program

Candidates need to provide the following materials:
"Application Form for Direct Doctoral Degree Program at Southwest Jiaotong University";
Two letters of recommendation from experts;
A copy of the award certificate obtained by the undergraduate student during the study period (signed by the student and dated);
A brief description of the undergraduate student's participation in scientific research during the study period;
A summary report on the scientific and technological development of the applied discipline (major) and the doctoral degree study plan (signed by the student and dated);
A copy of the student ID card (signed by the student and dated);
A copy of the ID card (military personnel must provide a copy of the military officer's certificate and resident ID card) (signed by the student and dated);
Political review form (stamped with the personnel department seal (red seal));
Qualification review form for recommended exemption from the entrance examination (signed and stamped by the counselor);
Undergraduate transcript (stamped with a red seal);
Certificate of English proficiency;
One recent passport photo;
Physical examination form (provided by a second-class or above hospital and stamped with the conclusion seal of the medical examination).
The qualification review will be conducted from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on May 20, 2023, at the office 0902 on the Jiuli Campus.
The school will conduct a strict review of the candidate's ID card, diploma and degree certificates, enrollment verification results, student ID card, and other application materials, as well as the candidate's qualifications. Candidates who do not meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education will not be admitted, let alone enrolled.
Candidates should ensure that the materials submitted at the time of registration are authentic and effective. If it is found that the candidate has falsified any information at any stage of the admission process, once confirmed, the candidate's eligibility for the interview and admission will be canceled, and their academic status may be revoked.
(4) Comprehensive Assessment Content
The comprehensive assessment content is the comprehensive interview (with a full score of 100 points). The comprehensive interview mainly tests the candidates' ideological and political quality, scientific literacy, professional basic theory, knowledge structure, research potential, innovation consciousness and ability, language expression, etc. The main content includes but is not limited to:
1. Knowledge background (25 points): focusing on the candidate's undergraduate and master's stage academic performance, existing knowledge structure, etc.;
2. Research ability (25 points): focusing on the candidate's ability to obtain literature information, understand and learn research methods, whether they possess the basic theory and research hands-on ability required for doctoral students in this discipline, etc.;
3. Foreign language proficiency (25 points): focusing on the candidate's listening, speaking, and professional foreign language proficiency;
4. Comprehensive ability (25 points): focusing on the candidate's thinking and language expression ability, questioning spirit and innovation consciousness, teamwork spirit and cooperation ability, psychological maturity and physical and mental health, etc.
Each candidate's interview time is generally not less than 40 minutes, including personal statements and on-site defense. The interview assessment process should be strictly recorded, and the whole process should be recorded with audio and video.

Candidates who apply with the same academic qualifications must take the political theory exam and two master's core courses corresponding to the applied major. The additional exams will be in written form and organized by each college. The full score for each subject is 100 points, and a score of no less than 60 points is considered passing. The additional exam scores will not be included in the total admission score.
Ideological and moral assessment. Adhere to the concept of moral education and strengthen the assessment of ideological and moral qualities. The ideological and political quality and moral assessment are important contents and basis for the admission assessment of doctoral students. The main content of ideological and political quality and moral assessment includes the candidate's political attitude, ideological performance, moral qualities, etc. Special attention should be paid to the candidate's scientific spirit, academic ethics, professional ethics, honesty and trustworthiness, etc. Candidates who fail the assessment will not be admitted.
If the college deems it necessary, relevant candidates may be assessed again.
(5): Comprehensive Assessment Procedures
Waiting preparation.
Candidate's self-introduction in English (not exceeding 5 minutes, can use PPT), mainly introducing their learning and work experience, key courses they have taken, and showing materials that can prove their learning ability, research ability, innovation ability, etc.
Experts ask questions, and candidates answer.
After the candidate has finished answering, if there are no further questions from the interview experts, the candidate will leave the interview site.
According to the prompts of the interview staff, the next candidate enters.
Part Two: Intended Admission
Section One: Calculation Method of Total Admission Score
The total admission score = comprehensive assessment score = comprehensive interview score: the total score is 100 points, of which "knowledge background" accounts for 25%, "research ability" accounts for 25%, "foreign language proficiency" accounts for 25%, and "comprehensive ability" accounts for 25%;
The total score of all intended admission candidates must be greater than 60 points. Candidates with a total score that is not qualified (less than 60 points) will not be admitted.
Section Two: Principles of Intended Admission
Within the enrollment plan issued by the university, based on the principle of "comprehensively evaluating morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor, selecting the best, ensuring quality, and not accepting substandard candidates," and referring to the candidate's comprehensive assessment score, as well as the results of the assessment of ideological and political quality and moral qualities, a comprehensive judgment will be made. Within the supervisor's admission plan, the intended admission list will be determined based on the comprehensive assessment score from high to low. The following situations will not be intended for admission:
Those who have not passed or completed the academic (enrollment) verification;
Those who have not undergone qualification examination or have not passed the qualification examination;
Those who do not meet the requirements for application (including those caused by errors in the application information confirmed by the candidate);
Those who fail the assessment of ideological and moral qualities;
Those who fail the comprehensive assessment score or interview score (less than 60 points);
Candidates with a score of less than 60 points in any of the additional exams for candidates with equivalent academic qualifications.
Section Three: Comprehensive Assessment Fees
In accordance with the "Notice of Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission and Sichuan Provincial Finance Department on Reissuing the Administrative Fees for Examination and Administration in the Education System of the Province" (Chuan Fa Gai Jia Ge [2017] No. 467), candidates who participate in the comprehensive assessment of doctoral students in our university in 2023 must pay a fee of 120 yuan/person. The payment time and method are detailed in the "Payment Instructions".
Section Four: Physical Examination
After being intended for admission, candidates need to submit their own medical examination report in accordance with the school's unified requirements. The physical examination must be conducted in a second-class or above hospital, and the physical examination standards refer to the "Opinions on Physical Examination for Enrollment of Ordinary Colleges and Universities" (Teaching [2003] No. 3) issued by the Ministry of Education, the former Ministry of Health, and the China Disabled Persons' Federation, as well as the "Notice of the Sichuan Provincial Admissions and Examination Committee and the Provincial Department of Education on Forwarding the Notice of the Office of the Ministry of Education and the Office of the Ministry of Health on Canceling the Hepatitis B Project Test for Student Enrollment Physical Examination in Ordinary Colleges and Universities" (Chuan Zhao Kao Wei [2010] No. 9). Each recruiting subject can combine the actual situation of the subject to propose physical examination requirements.
Section Five: Information Disclosure and Supervision, Review
The Physical Science and Technology School of Southwest Jiaotong University will publish the implementation rules, list of candidates, and intended admission list for the retest on its official website (http://phys.swjtu.edu.cn/xwgg/yjstz.htm). Candidates who have not been published cannot be admitted.
