The Department of Applied Physics held a seminar titled "Never forget the original intention and cultivate new talents, undergraduate students step into the research team" on March 23, 2023, with the aim of comprehensively improving the comprehensive abilities of undergraduate students majoring in applied physics. The seminar was organized by the School of Physical Science and Technology. The seminar was attended by Professor Liu Yu, the Party Secretary of our school, Professor Jia Huanyu, the Vice President (in charge of work), and speakers from nine research teams and three competition teams.
Firstly, Secretary Liu Yu and Dean Jia Huanyu encouraged students to establish lofty ideals, not only to take the lead but also to be down-to-earth, fearless of difficulties, and brave enough to climb to the peaks, becoming the pillars of the country. Secondly, the speakers from nine research teams and three competition teams gave speeches, including Professor Cheng Jun from the plasma physics team, Professor Chen Kaiya from the antenna and propagation team, Professor Tang Xianfeng from the electromagnetic technology and application team, Professor Guo Jianqiang from the optoelectronic engineering research institute, Professor Qiu Song from the high-power microwave technology team, Professor Ni Yuxiang from the micro-nano device and material physics team, Professor Liu Qijun from the high-pressure condensed matter physics team, Professor Liu Siming from the particle astrophysics team, Professor Wang Yiwen from the quantum optoelectronics team, and the physics competition teacher Fan Daihe and the optoelectronic competition teacher Zhu Hongna.
During the seminar, experts from various scientific research teams and competition teams introduced their research areas to the students. The students actively participated and raised some questions about research directions, which were answered and guided by the experts.
The seminar received widespread attention and positive response from the students. The students who participated in the seminar said that the seminar gave them a deeper understanding of the various research fields of applied physics and provided them with more opportunities for scientific research and development space. They will actively participate in the application and practice of scientific research teams, and continue to work hard to improve their scientific research abilities and comprehensive qualities.
