The activities cover various aspects such as correctly understanding epidemic prevention and control, strengthening ideological guidance, and enhancing class and learning atmosphere. Under the background of the “great ideological and political work” of the school, the party and government leadership of the School of Physical Science and Technology attaches great importance to student education. At the beginning of the semester, the party secretary Liu Yu and Vice Dean (in charge) Jia Huanyu orderly conducted a special meeting to discuss and deploy related work for the “first lesson” They also led the relevant scientific research team of the school to carry out a popular science lecture activity “Do not forget the original intention and cultivate new people, undergraduates enter scientific research teams” for undergraduate students, helping them to further understand scientific research. The party secretary Liu Yu and the deputy party secretary Guo Jian also gave the first lecture on the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China to all counselors, allowing educators to be educated first. The deputy party secretary Guo Jian, Wei Zhenxing, and teachers such as Ni Yuxiang, the director of the Department of Applied Physics, and Zhang Jianqiong, the director of the Department of Telecommunications, also went to various grade and class meetings to carry out the “first lesson” education.
On this basis, all the counselors and class advisors of the School of Physical Science and Technology also went to each class to hold a “first lesson” themed class meeting, focusing on current social hot topics, facing the general ideological confusion of students, and guiding students to grow healthily. The counselors launched three parts, including “walking together for three years in the fight against the epidemic” “thinking in the post-epidemic era” and “the youth generation's struggle is just right” Combining China's great achievements in economy, politics, culture, education, science and technology, they reviewed the great practice of the party leading the people to fight against the epidemic, interpreted the theoretical connotation and significance of promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese-style modernization, and called on young students to shoulder their responsibilities.
Under the “counselor-department-class advisor” linkage work system of the school, class advisors also took the initiative to participate in the “first lesson” education, actively guiding students to correctly understand the adjustments of epidemic prevention and control policies by the party and the state at various stages, and to realize that the three-year fight against the epidemic has protected the people, reflected the responsibility, stabilized society, consolidated people's hearts, and won opportunities, which can withstand the test of the people and history. In terms of consolidating the academic foundation, creating a good class and learning atmosphere, and planning for oneself, the counselors of each grade focused on different aspects of work, accurately grasping the characteristics of students of different grades, and carrying out the “first lesson” education based on the actual situation of students.
Combining the characteristics of the first-year students' study and life habits transition, the counselors invited classmates to voluntarily share their gains and losses in the first 1/8 of their university life based on the overall learning situation of the last semester, guiding students to set lofty goals and adjust their own learning and living rhythms as soon as possible. For the second and third-year students, the focus is on consolidating the academic foundation, emphasizing the output of their own achievements. For the graduating students, the counselors explained the issues of postgraduate entrance examination and re-examination according to different graduation directions, and encouraged students who failed in the postgraduate entrance examination to actively seek employment and further improve their ability and quality.
Safety is of paramount importance. In the new semester, the School of Physical Science and Technology has taken multiple measures to ensure students' safety. At the “first lesson” the counselors guided students to strengthen their safety awareness, establish a legal concept, and move the risk prevention and control gate forward around life safety, property safety, and network information security. Teachers also went to the students' dormitories to understand their needs and difficulties, and actively eliminated safety hazards such as the use of high-power electrical appliances and the storage of dangerous goods.
In the new semester, the school will continue to optimize the psychological health survey, strengthen the work mechanism of comprehensive prevention, control, and intervention, and build a network of psychological health education for schools, schools, classes, and dormitories.
