Students from Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) secured multiple prestigious awards at the 9th Southwest China University Physics Tournament (SWUPT), held at Yunnan University from May 30 to June 2, 2025. This regional event also served as a qualifier for the 16th China Undergraduate Physics Tournament (CUPT).

Led by four faculty advisors including Shen Junfeng from the school of physical science and technology, SWJTU fielded two teams for the theoretical debate competition and three project teams for the experimental innovation contest. After intense academic competition, SWJTU students earned:
Project Competition: Two First Prizes and one Third Prize
Team Competition: One Second Prize and one Third Prize
Notably, the project teams qualified for the upcoming national championship.
The tournament gathered elite physics students from across Southwest China. Under the guidance of five faculty mentors, SWJTU teams demonstrated exceptional subject mastery, innovative thinking, and collaborative spirit throughout the rigorous contests.
In the project competition, entries from The School of Physical Science and Technology won acclaim for their scientific rigor, creative methodologies, and compelling presentations, securing two top honors. During the team debates, participants engaged in sophisticated analysis and rebuttals on complex physics problems, showcasing outstanding critical thinking under pressure to claim second and third prizes.
These achievements reflect The School’s sustained commitment to cultivating innovation and practical competencies among applied physics undergraduates, particularly through its Honors Program. The School will continue providing platforms for students to engage in high-level academic exchanges and competitions, further enhancing their comprehensive capabilities and research skills to foster future leaders in physics.
